Cole Palmer received one of the most unique contracts in the history of the Premier League, to be usurped five months later.
Palmer left Manchester City in 2023 after winning the triple, signing Chelsea in a 40 million pound switch Sterling who surprised a lot – including the former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville.
However, Palmer quickly became the main man of the Blues and in his first season, scored 22 goals and recorded 11 assists in the Premier League – winning the young player of the PFA year.
He had already signed a seven -year contract with the option of another year, but his meteoric increase, which saw him star for England at Euro 2024, led Chelsea to extend the agreement.
Palmer wrote a new two -year extension to attach it until 2033, as well as to a significant salary increase.

The contract was the longest contract in the history of the Premier League, but it did not last too long, in January 2025, the former teammate of Palmer, Éling Haaland, put paper on a record contract of 10 years in City.
The Haaland initial agreement took place until 2027 after having signed a five -year contract at the Etihad stadium, but he won new terms until the summer of 2034 – to what extent the Norwegian will be 34 years old.
The news was a massive statement of City, with a lot of printing that it filed a marker before the verdict of the 115 accusations with the Premier League.
Although in football and other long -term sports, long -term contracts are regularly, Todd Boehly and Chelsea innovated in England with their approach, with Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudramk and Nicolas Jackson among those who sign for an extended period.

It has been said that the agreement offers an intelligent means of bypassing the financial rules of the Premier League as an amount of players – the amount per year that clubs pay for a player during their contract – can be listed in their accounts as a lower sum.
