Administrative Assistant | University of Surrey

Position: Administrative Assistant

Job Type: Full Time

Salary: £32,080 to £33,951 per annum

Location: Surrey (Hybrid-Remote Model)

Employer: University of Surrey

Application Deadline: October 9th, 2026

The role

In this role, you’ll provide the staff and visitors of the Accelerated Compute Infrastructure Training Hub (ACIT Hub) with administrative support.

The ACIT Hub hosts many events and you will help create a professional and welcoming atmosphere for our visitors, responding to queries in the shared mailbox, booking rooms, setting up events, and arranging transport and accommodation for visitors. You will handle administration tasks for the ACIT Hub, including completing transactions, maintaining records and taking notes.

If you enjoy working autonomously, using your problem-solving skills and own judgement, and delivering excellent customer service, this is an exciting opportunity to support a major new national training programme.

This role also provides broad development opportunities by contributing to the organisation of events and the delivery of training activities, so you can shape your future direction based on your interests.

Some travel to events across the country and working outside of core hours will occasionally be required.

We operate a hybrid remote working model and for this role you will be expected to work on campus 2 day a week, more if you prefer.

About us

The ACIT-Hub is a new project that provides professional development and training opportunities to technical experts working with supercomputer hardware.

Our mission is to create a professional network for these experts and draw on their knowledge and experience to develop a national-scale training program. It will establish recognised qualifications and encourage diverse routes into the field for people of all backgrounds, increasing the creativity and ingenuity of the field.

The project is a collaboration between the University of Surrey, University of Oxford, University of Sheffield, Imperial College London and University of Bristol.

We are an inclusive and supportive team and ensure all our colleagues follow this ethos to allow everyone to perform their best.

About you

We’re looking for someone with a good knowledge of the workings of Universities, who can use their initiative and judgement in their work to keep things moving, while understanding the importance of keeping people up to date.
