The goalkeeper Udinese Okoye landed matching match accusations but has given a two -month ban

The goalkeeper Udinese Maduka Okoye, who had been accused of fixing the matches, was rid of all the accusations but received a two -month ban by the Italian football federation (FIGC), said the Serie A club.

The Figc National Federal Court, which met on Tuesday to discuss the accusation against the Nigerian Okoye, “Excluded any involvement of the player in sports offenses, after accepting the arguments of his lawyers”, Udinese said in a statement.

“During the trial, all accusations of alleged sports misconduct were abandoned and the decision to impose a two -month ban was based solely on a violation of the general principle of equity (article 4 of the Federal Code of Sports Justice).

“The club said he is satisfied with the court conclusion that the player was not involved in the infamous match game theory.

The 25 -year -old Nigerian international would have deliberately collected a reservation during the Italian League match of his team against Lazio in March 2024.

The goalkeeper of German origin received a yellow card for the waste of time after an alleged agreement concluded with a friend who won 120,000 euros ($ 140,000) following a bet.

The Figc investigation established that he had no intention of repairing the match, which would have been liable to a fine of four years.

However, Okoye, who has been with Udinese since 2023, will be suspended from August 18 to October 19. He will therefore miss seven of his team’s matches – six in the league and one in Coppa Italia.
