The FMF imposed a financial fine and issued a warning, and said that more serious sanctions could follow if Hernandez repeats this behavior.

“”I deeply regret any confusion or discomfort that my recent words may have caused; He never intended to limit, hurt or divide …,“Hernandez published Thursday on social networks.

“”I listen to, I think and I commit to expressing myself with greater clarity and sensitivity, especially on such sensitive questions. I believe that change begins with oneself.

Hernandez published videos during the weekend during which he called on women to “be guided by a man” and accused women of “eradicating masculinity”.

Hernandez, the top scorer of all time in Mexico, also said that the company had become “hypersensitive” and asked for feminist opinions on domestic roles.

The remarks were widely criticized as sexist and disconnected from contemporary society, which aroused the condemnation of fans and public figures, notably the Mexican president Claudia Sheinbaum.

Hernandez joined the Guadalajara childhood club last year after playing for several major European teams, including Manchester United, Real Madrid and West Ham United.
