Rodri: Manchester City midfielder has undergone a loss of injuries – Pep Guardiola

Manchester City midfielder Rodri has undergone a loss of injuries and is unlikely to be “really in good shape” to the international break in September, said manager Pep Guardiola.

The Spanish international spent most of the 2024-25 season at the start of the anterior cruciate ligament injury broken last September.

The winner of Ballon d’Or 2024 returned to action when he came as a late substitute in the penultimate match of the Premier League of the City against Bournemouth.

The 29-year-old was also part of the Guardiola team at the Club World Cup in the United States in summer, when City went to the last stage of 16 in Al-Hilal.

Rodri came as a second half substitute against the Saudi side but left early in an additional time with what would be a problem of the groin.

“Rodri improved, but he was injured in the last match against al-Hilal,” said Guardiola.

“He trained better in recent days. I hope that after the international break, he will be really in good shape.”
