The uncertainty surrounding the first Real Madrid Liga match of the 2025/26 season against Osasuna – scheduled for August 19 – continues.
According to reports earlier in the dayThe Spanish Capital Club would have sent an official letter to La Liga requesting that the match be postponed and reprogrammed on October 29.
It was said that the Meringues had concluded an agreement with Osasuna as well as the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) during the new date before writing to La Liga requesting the postponement.
However, the liga says the opposite. Sources within the league have confirmed World of sport that no letter of this type of Real Madrid was received by requesting the postponement of their opening match against Osasuna.
The League does not exclude the possibility of receiving it in the future, but to date, demand does not exist.

If the request has finally arrived, the Liga said it would examine the Real Madrid’s arguments and make a decision according to the circumstances.
The League also stressed that it strictly adhere to the collective agreement and the regulations established by the Liga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) concerning these questions.
The conflict arises from the programming of the FIFA club World Cup so close to the new League season, because Real Madrid has now visited the semi-finals of the tournament in the United States.
The Association of Spain footballers (EFA) urged La Liga to advance the Real Madrid game to ensure an appropriate rest period for players. The league remains to be seen.
