Kosice to take the place of DAC in the second round of qualification of the conference league

FC Košice footballers will be presented in the 2025/26 UEFA conference league. The fifth place finish will replace FC DAC 1904 Dunajska Streda, which was excluded for violation of the Multi-Club property rule. This was reported on club’s social media. UEFA should issue an official confirmation.

After the exclusion of Dunajska Streda’s media, the Union of League clubs launched an internal discussion at the level of the úlk presidium. She took the vote on a possible replacement for the DAC, who could take the vacant position of the Slovak representative in the European competition. All the clubs of the Nike Liga participated in the vote, with the majority deciding that Kosice, the best classified team in the League who did not qualify for Europe, would claim the place.

With the vote on the potential replacement, the clubs also voted on how to face this situation if it happens in the future.

If a Slovak club again came out of a UEFA club competition, the replacement team would automatically be the best positioned as a whole in the league table last season.

The verdict of the court of arbitration for sport (case) in Lausanne occurred first, where the DAC appealed the decision of UEFA. On Monday, it was decided that they would not participate in the League of the UEFA Conference due to a violation of the Multi-Club property rule. UEFA began investigating the situation before the draw of the first round of the competition, Dunajská Streda was supposed to play in the second round.

The Court of Arbitration published on Monday a declaration on its official website, confirming the decision, at the expense of the DAC. He also confirmed that March 1, 2025 was the deadline for clubs to settle their multi-club property situation.

“”The Senate Case unanimously decided that the change in the date of evaluation was in accordance with the procedures set out in the statutes of UEFA and that the DAC violated UEFA regulations for club competitions and article 5.01, because the same person is the executive (and unique) director of the ETO FC gyori and also the executive director, the vice-president and the member of the DAC is directly involved in the direction of two clubs, but also of what this person is unique a decisive influence on decision -making.“”

DAC also reacted to the decision on its club site. They found that the postponement of the deadline was unjustified, but at the same time, they respected the verdict.

The Dunajska Streda club was to meet the winner of the first equality of the conference league in qualification between Urartu and Neman Grodno of Armenia. The Belarusian club won in the first leg 2-1 last Thursday.

In addition to Kosice, Slovakia will be represented in Europe by Slovan Bratislava (Champions League), Spartak Trnava (Europa League) and Zilina (Conference League)
