The president of Crystal Palace, Steve Parish, confirmed that his club would call on the Arbitration Court for Sport after being demoted from the Europa League.
Palace qualified for the Europa League with a final FA Cup victory over Manchester City in May.
But UEFA, the European director of football, ruled that Palace should go to the league of the conference on a conflict of interest involving the former director of the club John Textor, who also leaves the French side Lyon.
Textor has moved away from the palace in early July, but the property question relates to the end of last season when the Southern London team obtained a first European appearance by winning the first major trophy in their history.
UEFA’s decision would mean that Nottingham Forest, who finished seventh in the Premier League, would take the place of the palace in the Europa League, but Parish reported its intention to challenge the decision.
“We are still fighting,” Parish said to The rest is football podcast. “There is a call process, so we are going to case, which is the arbitration court, and, you know, we hope very hope. We think we have excellent legal arguments.
“We don’t think it’s the right decision. We know unequivocally that John did not have a decisive influence on the club.
“We know that we have proven that, beyond any reasonable doubt because it is a fact.”
UEFA rules claim that no owner or co -owner can have a majority interest in more than one club in competition in the same European competition during the same season.
The position of palace was that the textor had no role sufficiently controlling for the club to fall into the fault of the regulations.
But the deadline for shareholders to sell their interest in a club, or another way of modifying their property structure, in order to comply with the regulations was March 1.
