
Spanish leader, Aitana Bonmati, is back to full shape following a fear of meningitis and aimed at continuing to write history when Spain faces Switzerland in their Euro quarter -final in Bern on Friday.
The defending champions of the world and the League of Nations had their plans disturbed a few days before the tournament while Bonmati was hospitalized with alleged viral meningitis, but the 27 -year -old woman said she was back to her best before the Swiss force test.
“I never thought I would not be here – I thought I can miss games, but I never thought I couldn’t be here. I’m ready to be in this tournament. What happened was an unexpected thing,” She told journalists on Thursday.
“I felt very well physically, I was perfect … And all of a sudden, I was in the hospital. It was a new experience for me, obviously, I was negative because it was five days before starting the tournament and I was in the hospital.
“I was frustrated, I suffered, I must admit it. All the players want to enjoy tournaments, but fortunately, I am ready to play in the quarterfinals.”
A victory against the Swiss would put Spain for a meeting with France or Germany in the semi-finals, but Bonmati said that she was not looking so far forward.
“For tomorrow, this is a new challenge for us, we have the opportunity to be in the semi-finals. My goal is to try to continue writing the story,” The double winner of golden ball.
