Alexander Isak is determined to leave Newcastle United and join Liverpool this summer.
Several sources have told BBC Sport that it is the ambition of the Swedish striker to join the Premier League champions before the deadline closed on September 1.
The Magpies rejected an offer of 110 million pounds from Liverpool for Isak on August 1, the Reds later claiming that they were ready to move away from an agreement.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said after a friendly defeat of the pre-season by Atletico Madrid that “everything is at stake” with regard to the future of Isak, but stressed that he was “clear” that he “cannot imply” the attacker in his current plans.
As such, Isak should miss the opening match of the Premier League from Newcastle to Aston Villa on Saturday (12:30 p.m. BST).
The former Dortmund striker missed the pre-season tour of the extreme-east Newcastle with a “minor” thigh injury.
He then trained alone to the former Real Sociedad club, before returning to the United Kingdom last week.
Isak, who scored 27 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions last season, is three years old to appear on his agreement in the Northeast.
