Antoine Semenyo is said to have been the subject of racist abuse of a fan when opening the first League of Bournemouth against Liverpool.
The cherry striker was preparing to take a return before he seems to be heckled by a Liverpool fan just half an hour from the case in Anfield.
Semenyo brought the incident to the attention of referee Anthony Taylor, and the match was quickly interrupted temporarily.
Bournemouth boss, Andoni Iraola, was seen in the discussion with Liverpool managers and manager, Arne Slot, before resumption of the game.
Football fans quickly went to social networks to share their contempt for the incident, stressing that racism has no place in the game.
A fan wrote on X: “The same season of the same season. Honestly, you need serious repercussions for things like this. Just unacceptable … ‘

A third said: “A third new season and always the same problems, why can the pre-ne-ne-né prohibit these racists to come to the stadium”.
At halftime, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher also expressed their disdain to the incident.
Neville said: “This eclipses what should be an incredible evening, the first match of the Premier League season.
“This boy (Semenyo) was essentially abused to racly and had to complain about it. It is despicable. I can’t even think about what would go through someone’s mind (to say that).
Carragher added: “The number of campaigns we have, launching racism, all over the world, it is shocking to see an incident like this.
“A shocking incident and rightly reported to the referee.”
A few minutes after the incident, the Reds took the lead thanks to Hugo Ekitike – the second goal of the new signature in as many games, also scored the defeat of the FA community of Liverpool by Crystal Palace last week.
