The new recruit Ebelechi Eze will create “magic moments” and bring Arsenal to a different level, according to the Manager of Gunners, Mikel Arteta.
Eze was presented at the crowd of the Emirates shortly before the 5-0 battery of Arsenal from Leeds which brought the club from northern London to the top of the Premier League table at the start of the season.
The English international has signed a four -year contract in an agreement that could be worth up to 68 million pounds Sterling after Arsenal developed his move to their rivals in Tottenham Hotspur.
The 27 -year -old did not arrive in time to face Leeds, but with Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard injured in the second victory of Arsenal in as many matches, Eze could be returned to the artillerymen against the Champions Regnant Liverpool in Anfield next Sunday.
“He (Eze) has the ability to create these magical moments”, “ said Arteta.
“It can do it from different positions, different situations. He has this flair and he has this charisma about him which is very contagious.
“This shows how we want to bring this club to a different level. His talent is indisputable. He lived in this league. The personality is incredible.
“He can play different positions. We know that he can play as an attacking midfielder, right or left. He doesn’t care. And you can say that what happened on this field (before the match) meant the world for him, so I’m delighted to have it.”
Eze becomes the seventh signature by Arsenal from a summer transfer window where they have now spent about 250 million pounds Sterling after the arrivals of Viktor Gyokerres, Cristhian Mosquera, Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard and Noni Madueke.
‘More equipped’
Arsenal finished second in the Premier League for each of the last three seasons and has won a trophy for the last time five years ago.
But the signature of Eze is another indication of their determination to end an expectation of 22 years for the title of Premier League.
His return to the Arsenal childhood club comes with Eze assured of a place in the history of Crystal Palace after having scored the winning goal during the final victory of the Eagles in FA Cup against Manchester City in May to guarantee the first major trophy of the South London Club.
Saka and Odegaard have respectively suffered hamstrings and shoulder injuries against Leeds.
Saka missed three and a half months of last season after a surgery on his right -back hamstrings – on Saturday, he injured himself at the left hamstrings – while the captain of the Odegaard club was also absent for 12 games with an ankle problem while the injuries derailed the quest for arsenal silverware.
The duo will suffer analyzes on Sunday to discover the extent of their latest setbacks, with Arteta adding: “Just see the number of minutes that the team played in 2023/24. You can name the departure XI.
“Last year, it was a little different due to the amount of injuries we suffered and the start of this season was not great in this direction.
“But we are much more equipped, without a doubt – and it is necessary. If you want to compete at this level and be very dominant, there is no other option.”
