Al Hilal withdrew from the Saudi Super Cup due to the recent calendar loaded

Al Hilal must ignore the Saudi Super Cup 2025-26, which takes place for next month, in the middle of their busy schedule.

Al Hilal finished the recent Saudi season of Saudi Pro League behind the champions Al Ittihad at the end of May, after being eliminated the quarter-finals of the King’s Cup and the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League.

The Riyad-based club then headed for the United States, where they launched their club world club campaign on June 18 against the Real Madrid giants.

They reached the stadiums with direct elimination, where they amazed Manchester City in the past 16 times before losing Fluminense in the quarterfinals on July 4.

The Saudi Super Cup will be held between August 19 to 23 in Hong Kong, the league campaign in progress at the end of August.

Their CWC campaign and the following flight complications “reduced players’ annual leave to only 24 days in the event of a withdrawal and 21 days if the club participated in the Super Cup”, the rules granting them “a minimum of 28 days of annual leave,” the club said in a press release.

Al Hilal was forced to postpone their pre-season preparations, “which has further increased the competitive imbalance among the participating clubs”, the declaration was made by citing a letter sent to the Local Football Federation.

The Saudi Federation (SAFF) said that, in response, they will “start to take the necessary measures in accordance with the relevant rules and regulations through the committees concerned”, without providing more details.
