Belgian midfielder Kevin de Bruyne is impatient to go to Serie a Champions Napoli after not having received a contract extension by Manchester City, and said that the connection with compatriot Romelu Lukaku was part of the call.
Considered one of the greatest field circles in the history of the Premier League, by Bruyne put an end to a sparkling fate of a decade in City at the end of last season and joined Napoli during a free transfer last month.
“I have been in the Premier League for so long and at the end, I made the decision to get out of England,” Bruyne told journalists from Bruyne on Saturday.
“”I did what I did and in the end I am a player of the city of the man for life. It was also with the way it ended for me, I thought, it’s time to find a new challenge.
“”When I had the whole project in front of me and the fact that I could play in Italy and play at a high level was exciting for me. “”
From Bruyne, who was 34 years old last month, said he had a lot to learn in Italy, but with his teammate in Belgium and Polyglot Romelu Lukaku by his side, the learning curve seems much less stiff while he adapts to the sides of Antonio Conte.
“”Napoli is already champions but they always improve their team … I hope I can help the team grow and I will also learn from them, a new way of playing, a new competition“Said from Bruyne.
“”Romelu was happy (about the move), I told him about the national team (camp), he wanted me to join. I have known Romelu since the age of 13, so we are really tight together. When we played Chelsea, we lived together for two or three months.
“It is a little easier to know him because he is someone who can translate for me and it helps because he knows the coach, he knows the team.”
Napoli began his series of Serie at 2025/26 on August 13 with a trip to Sassuolo.
