Manchester United prioritizes a decision for Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig if they sign an attacker this summer.
The Old Trafford Club has established informal contact with its Bundesliga counterparts after SESKO has become their favorite option.
Newcastle United also aims at the 22 -year -old as his best candidate. This interest comes in the middle of Alexander Isak who wants to leave St James’ Park and accelerated the actions of Manchester United.
RB Leipzig requests costs of 75 million euros plus additional modules as well as a percentage of sale for any agreement for SESKO.
Ruben Amorim’s team also admires the attacker of Aston Villa Ollie Watkins and explored the costs of the two potential offers.
Villa told United at the start of the window that the 29 -year -old was not for sale and that he was categorical, he stayed. The United Hierarchy hesitates to pay what they thought they needed for Villa plans to do business.
United has already added two offensive reinforcements this summer with Matheus Cunha arriving from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bryan Mbeumo joining Brentford. Previously, they had an interest in SESKO before his move to Red Bull Salzburg, but, in 2019, United considered a price of 2 million euros as excessive.
SESKO’s Leipzig agreement takes place until 2029, after having signed a new contract last year. When he signed this new agreement, he came with understanding that if an elite club – by its definition – offered in the region from 80 million euros to 90 million euros (69 million pounds Sterling at 78 million pounds sterling), Leipzig would allow him to leave.
International Slovenia joined Leipzig in 2023 from Red Bull Salzburg, with the two clubs belonging to the Red Bull GmbH conglomerate. He made 87 appearances for Leipzig, scoring 39 goals and providing eight assists.
He made his debut in senior Slovenia the day after his 18th birthday and scored 16 goals in 41 games, representing his nation in the European Championship 2024.

United by going for the potential on a known entity
Analysis of the Manchester United correspondent Laurie Whitwell
United’s decision to go for hisko on Watkins is fascinating in many ways. It will be the most expensive of offers, but would bring a young player to complete the most established premier league signatures in Cunha and Mbeumo. United hopes that he will transform into world class attacks that he has shown promise.
United has years of scouting about him. They first planned to sign SESKO as 16 years of domzale in 2019, but did not succeed in the costs of 2 million euros agreed by Salzburg. They also organized conversations in 2022, but Sesko preferred to accept to move to Leipzig for his way. United also made an approach last summer before signing Joshua Zirkzee, but Sesko chose to stay.

United plans to make the fourth time the luckiest, but Sesko will cost much more than the price of six years ago. To determine how United will allow itself which will come down to sales to be made, and difficult negotiations with Leipzig are expected. The future of Rasmus Hojlund will concentrate clearer.
Christopher Vivell, Director of Recruitment of United, has an influence on this proposed transfer. He was in Salzburg and Leipzig in management positions when SESKO’s agreements were agreed, and pleaded for United making another move now.
Watkins represents that possible a guaranteed premier league option, but United is going for a player who could spend a decade at the club if everything is going well.
How was SESKO in 2024-25?
Analysis of the German football writer Seb Stafford-Bloor
Very well, but it was not the season he needed to produce to appease doubts.
While its overall performance level has improved in the broader sense, SESKO being more and more connected with the rest of the Leipzig team, its goal figures were down. He scored a goal of less from Bundesliga (13) in 2024-25 than what he did the previous year, despite an additional game of an additional 900 minutes. He has never been able to reproduce this sequence of seven games compared to the previous year, which means that it seemed disappointing accordingly, despite some catchy goals (in particular against Bayern Munich at the Red Bull Arena).
But Leipzig had a bad season. They dismissed Marco Rose in March, have been drinking their lowest finish since their promotion at the Bundesliga in 2016 and won only one match of their eight games in the Champions League.
It is a precious context. Nevertheless, consistency was always a problem for SESKO and the gap between its best performance and its worst, which is a historical criticism, remains too wide.
