Neymar comes up against an angry fan in an incident heated in an unprecedented situation in Santos
Neymar was involved in an ardent exchange with a fan of Santos on Wednesday evening, a few moments after the Brazilian team fell into the relegation zone after a 2-1 defeat against Internacional.
It was a season of mixed emotions for Neymar, which recently signed a contract extension with Santos until the end of the year, with an option to extend it via the 2026 World Cup.
After leaving the Saudi Pro League, Al Hilal in January, he made 14 appearances on his return to the Estadio Urbano Caldeira, although a left thigh injury prevented him from playing regular minutes in the first team.
However, the former striker of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain was delighted to sign a new agreement. “I made a decision and listened to my heart,” said Neymar. “Santos is not only my team, it’s my house, my roots, my story and my life.”

He added: “Here, I was a boy who became a man, and I am really loved. Here, I can be myself, really happy. And this is where I want to realize the dreams that are missing in my career. And nothing will stop me.”

After committing to fans in a second half that saw Santos concede a penalty of 75th minute, the attacker returned to the same area of the full -time field and could be seen arguing with a fan in the stands.

It was a disastrous campaign for Santos, which is currently 17th in the league after winning only four victories over 15 possible games.
Santos has undergone relegation in the past not so distant
For the first time in 111 years of history, Santos was relegated in December 2023 following a home defeat 2-1 against Fortaleza, although they won the promotion in Serie A of Brazil last season.

They remain one of the most prosperous clubs in Brazil after winning 12 state titles, six league titles and two Libertadores COPAS during their golden and 60 -60 -60s, but this recent period of form will concern supporters.
