Lionel Messi leaves the League match after 11 minutes with a hamstring injury

Lionel Messi underwent an injury to the hamstrings and was withdrawn in the 11th minute from the League Cup match on Saturday against Necaxa at the Chase Lauderdale stadium.

The 38 -year -old Argentinian superstar striker seemed to have a treatment on the leg or groin at the top right before leaving his own power and heading for the locker room.

It was later described as an discomfort of the hamstrings.

“Well, he felt discomfort, and we will not be able to know before tomorrow how serious the injury is”, “ Coach Javier Mascherano said after the match.

“There is probably something there. Maybe not as important, because he really had a lot. But he felt a traction.”

Messi took the ball and dribbled in the back line of Necaxa, but he stumbled at the top of the box and met the defender of Necaxa Alexis Pena, then dropped to the ground, beating the frustration ground while the ball was eliminated.

A few moments later, the captain of the Messi herons was alone near the midfield on the left wing when he went to the ground in a sitting position, lying briefly on his back until the arrival of the coaches.

Inter Miami director Javier Mascherano chose to send Federico Redondo to replace Messi.

During the Argentine World Cup qualifiers in March, Messi was harassed by problems of tension of the thighs.

Messi scored 18 goals and assisted on nine others in 18 mLS this season.

He helped the two goals at Inter Miami in a 2-1 victory against Atlas on Wednesday in their first match in the League Cup, a tournament involving MLS and the Mexican league teams.

Miami finished in the group phase in the event on Wednesday against Pumas on Wednesday.

Messi led Inter Miami at the Crown of the inaugural leagues in 2023 just after his arrival with the MLS Club.
