Paul Gascoigne appointed One England Star of ‘Golden Generation’ in all time three lions XI

The former midfielder of England Paul Gascoigne has snubbed several huge names when he named his three Lions XIs of all time on the basis of the players with whom he played.

Gascoigne, 58, remembers emotion by most supporters of England. His international career, which saw him win 57 caps of three lions, had huge ups and downs.

The midfielder made his debut in England in September 1998 in a friendly against Denmark in Wembley before, almost two years later, his 1990 World Cup campaign ended in tears.

“ Gazza ” was reserved in the semi -finals against Germany, which would have noted that it would have missed the final and could barely keep it on the ground – although the three Lions finally lost penalties and left the competition.

Six years later, he undoubtedly marked his most emblematic objective during Euro 1996 against Scotland. The man of the rangers then crushed the ball on Colin Hendry’s head before flying home in a 2-0 victory in Wembley.

Of course, despite the memories, the man born in Gateshead could not lead England to glory, but he still shared the land with several legends of three lions along the way.

In 2015, Sky Sports asked Gascoigne to appoint his team of all time in England on the basis of the players he played alongside, and there was no room for Paul Scholes and David Beckham, as well as several other members of the “Golden Generation”. But an emblematic team member made the cut.

Gascoigne opted for David Seaman as goalkeeper behind a solid back four, including the back left Stuart Pearce, central back Gary Mabbutt and Terry Butcher.

The right rear Gary Neville, who is more commonly associated with the “Gold generation” than the sides of the middle in the late 90s, was also appointed by Gazza.

On Neville, Gascoigne said: “I had the chance to play with major straight files, but it must be Gary Neville. It is only because its physical shape … You see the players today as wings, advancing, by going around and whisking crosses, and people say that it is the new game, but it was doing it 10 to 15 years ago.

“He had a funny race on him, and he was a moan but what Sir Alex Ferguson did with him to Manchester United was incredible. He came to a giant. He was confident, he was a really calm boy, but he was stuck and he was a team player.

“He was a guy that you would never see jogging – he was top by bottom. He was an honest player, he groaned a lot, but it must be Gary Neville.”

Sowing in the midfield, Bryan Robson, Chris Waddle, John Barnes and Peter Beardsley made the cup with a striker from Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer.
