Roy Hodgson sold the bad player by accident during his time as a Liverpool manager

A former Liverpool player who was accidentally sold by Roy Hodgson during his charm in Anfield has already opened on the bizarre incident.

Alexander Kacaniklic, who joined the Reds of the Swedish club Helsingborg in 2007, was described as “a naturally gifted footballer” by the youth coach Hughie Mcauley and was tilted to break into the first Liverpool team.

In fact, after graduating from the Academy, it was suggested that Kacaniklic could have his chance in a Europa League match in 2010.

However, this has never matured and was quickly authorized to leave Liverpool as part of their agreement to sign the defender of Fulham Paul Konchesky – a transfer that has since been lowered in history books for all bad reasons.

Roy Hodgson has made many questionable calls throughout his six-month fate as a boss of Liverpool, but he was, let’s say, something else.

The story tells that Hodgson drafted Konchesky, a player with whom he worked in Fulham, in the 2010 summer transfer window – an agreement that also saw the young people of Liverpool Lauri Dalla Vale and Kacaniklic in the opposite direction.

But it happened later, graciousness of Kacaniklic, that Hodgson did not really want Kacaniklic left and had rather wanted to sell another player named Alex.

Talk to The football canal In a podcast, the Swedish opened on the bizarre incident.

“It was a bit difficult for Liverpool to replace me,” said Kacaniklic. “In his head, he thought he had changed another Alex for Konchesky. But it was too late. It’s a bit funny.

“Then he just told me that I was welcome to Liverpool with open arms, but that I should do what I felt. Then, I had already changed my mind and I was very excited to come to Fulham.”

Kacaniklic made more than 100 appearances for Fulham in the Premier League and the Championship, scoring 11 goals on a four -year spell.

He also spent loan spells with Watford and Burnley before moving to Nantes during a free transfer in 2016. However, he failed to score for three seasons at the French club.

Earlier this year, Kacaniklic confirmed his retirement at the age of 33. He recently appeared at Cypriot Side Ael Limassol.
