The Turkish champions Galatasaray should complete the historic signature of the Napoli striker Victor Osimhen on Wednesday evening, would have spent a record of Super Lig 75 million euros to bring the player back to the club for a long -term agreement.
After long negotiations with Napoli officials in Milan to finalize the agreement, the clubs finally agreed from a global package, erased the previous Turkish record, which amounted to around 20 million euros after Youssef’s decision in Nesyri in Fenerbahce last summer.
Despite the reported interest of several other European teams as well as the Saudi outfit Al Hilal, Osimhen decided he wanted to return to Galatasaray.
The Nigerian international spent the previous season on loan to the club, winning both the Super Lig title and the Turkish Cup.
On Wednesday, Osimhen landed in Istanbul around 7:00 p.m. CET, with Galatasaray’s social media giving fans the opportunity to follow the flight live, showing how important this decision is for the club.
The Nigerian striker was then welcomed by a massive crowd of adhering fans at arrivals.
He also had an individually remarkable season, finishing as a top scorer in the league with 26 goals, while breaking the Turkish record for most goals scored in a single campaign by a foreign player (36).
Osimhen spent four seasons in Napoli, in which he helped the Italian outfit winning his first Serie A in 33 years during the 2022/23 campaign, scoring 26 goals and recording four assists.
However, after fighting with the club the following year, he was left in the limbo, Galatasaray who took advantage of a loan agreement for the 2024/25 season.
Fans fell in love with him during his visit, and he is now returning to Istanbul to continue his trip, with the opportunity to make a seismic brand on Turkish football.
