
Santi Cazorla is not yet ready to call the time of his career.
The 40 -year -old will be back in Laliga next season after having signed a new contract with Real Oviedo.
Cazorla, whose previous agreement expired this summer, signed an extension of one year, announced Oviedo on Saturday.
This means that Cazorla will be part of the Oviedo team while the club will return to the Spain division for the first time in 24 years.
The former Arsenal and Villarreal midfielder was a key element of the Oviedo team who obtained the promotion, marking one of the objectives to help his hometown club win his playoffs against mirands last month.
The former Spanish international played Laliga for the last time in 2020.
Cazorla spent seven years in the Oviedo youth team, but then left for Villarreal to start her professional career while Oviedo sank into a financial crisis.
After three years in Qatar with Al Sadd, Cazorla returned to Oviedo in 2023.
During an illustrious career, Cazorla won 81 captains for Spain and was part of the team that won consecutive European championships in 2008 and 2012.
