The two secret weapons of Mikel Arteta to convince Xavi Simons to sign for Arsenal on Chelsea

Chelsea could divert the long -standing interest from Arsenal for the star of RB Leipzig Xavi Simons, but the Gunners can call on two secret weapons to take over their London rivals for the Dutch.

After winning the club World Cup, Chelsea is revising their team after already adding Liam Delap and Joao Pedro this summer. Noni Madueke, on the other hand, joined Arsenal, while a number of other first team players are ready to leave like Raheem Sterling, Joao Felix and Ben Chilwell.

The Enzo Maresca team seeks to further strengthen their team, after having sealed a return to the Champions League, Simons becoming a new transfer target this week. The reports indicate that Simons wants to leave Leipzig after failing to qualify for European football for the next campaign and could be available for less than 60 million pounds sterling.

The 22-year-old man, who only did the permanent move in Germany last summer in Paris Saint-Germain, is also a target for Arsenal.

The Gunners could still be interested despite the arrival of Madueke given its valuation at a reduced price. And, if they do, Mikel Arteta could have two secret weapons in his sleeve to persuade Simons to choose the Emirates on Stamford Bridge.

First, Madueke’s new signature is a former Simons teammate of their shared time at PSV Eindhoven, the couple playing a good relationship on and out of the field before their big currency passes respectively to PSG and Chelsea respectively.

Second, Arsenal Jurrien Timber defender is an international Simons teammate for the Netherlands, so could help sell the advantages of Arsenal on Chelsea.

“At one point, there were almost no players left. So for the depth of the players, they really want to get players.”

Simons already offered to Arsenal?

Some rumors suggest that Simons may have already been offered to Arsenal this summer, before Chelsea’s reported interest. The new Simons agent, Ali Barat, has a good working relationship with Arsenal having represented Madueke in his recent transfer.

It should also work well specifically with the director of Arsenal Sporting, Andrea Berta, which could still strengthen their position if Simons was a real target. Berta has already moved Arsenal’s transfer operations in a new direction after the departure of Edu, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard arriving at the Emirates. Viktor Gyokerres is likely to join them while negotiations continue with a transfer of 67 million pounds sterling.
