Could Richarlison finally be the main man in Tottenham under Thomas Frank?

Richarlison’s stay in Tottenham was a roller coaster, but with Thomas Frank now at the helm, the Brazilian striker could make him give the ideal chance of intensifying as the club leader. Could it be the season when he finally has his potential?

The Spurs were able to quickly put their super cup disappointment behind them with a beginning of dreams in the Premier League against Burnley on Saturday August 16. Frank’s guys ran a ease 3-0, thanks largely to Richarlison.

He had a 2024-25 to forget. Fangue by an injury, Richarlison was a bit of a bit of Angel Postocoglou, scoring only five goals and providing two assists in 24 games in all competitions.

Against Burnley, the 28 -year -old scored an early pretender for the goal of the season with a superb bicycle kick in the 60th minute. It’s a small sample size, 71 minutes to be exact, but could it finally be up to the media threw under his new manager?

Increased responsibility for Richarlison

James Maddison will miss most, if not all, of the season after having undergone an injury to the previous cross ligament in pre-season, and with Dejan Kulusvski also recovering from a serious knee injury, the versatile Brazilian will probably have a lot of chances.

Of course, its privileged position is as an attacker, deriving in positions on the left to receive the ball and face the defenders. He directed the line against PSG well as a target man, holding the game and helping his teammates in the match, but he showed his marking capacity against Burnley.

Frank is also clearly a big fan, telling journalists after the match that keeping him in shape for the season is a priority.

“It was very good against PSG and today, it was exceptional, with its work rate, the driving of the team, the liaison game, the maintenance game, the right domination, then the two ends.” He said.

“So happy on behalf of the performance department, the medical service has done a leading job to build it. I think some of you know that it was not involved in the first friend because we had to build it.

“It will be continuous and something we have to watch throughout the season. It is only the second game of the season; there is a long way to go but very positive with him.”

With his colleague attacker Dominic Solanke still in great shape, although he replaced Richarlison to make a 19 -minute cameo in victory over Burnley, the Brazilian has a chance to cement his place like the favorite new number.

At the end of the season, we could look at Kudus and call him the signing of the season. He was out of competition in a poor West Ham team for two seasons, now he has his chance in a club `Big Six ” and he took it with both hands.

Kudus provided the assistance for the first of Richarlison, crossing the right before his teammate guided him in the lower corner to the left of the goal of Dubravka on the half-volley, but it was the second goal that stole the show.

The Ghanaian left Quilindschy Hartman for dust before slightly crossing the ball behind Richarlison. However, it didn’t matter; The Brazilian tilted his body and perfectly timed his jump, marking with a bicycle kick.

Thomas Frank knows how to train the attackers

During his seven years as Brentford manager, Frank worked with fantastic attackers. Ollie Watkins, Neal Maupay, Ivan Toney, Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo (technically) all played under the Danish.

During his stay in western London, Frank wanted his attackers to be able to put teammates at stake. Watkins and Toney, in particular, are very physical attackers, capable of competing with the central defenders of air duels and on the ground.

It is a high energy and high pressure role that should produce many chances. Richarlison has several of the same qualities outside possession, but also has the technical capacity to run in good channels and pick up the ball in tight spaces.

Perhaps more importantly, Frank can adapt. By playing against better teams, he often deployed a 3-5-2 training, which means that we could see Richarlison play alongside Solanke at some point this season. If it works in a similar way to the way Wissa and Mbeumo have done, Spurs fans will be delighted.

Verdict

If Richarlison is able to be more consistent, the fact that it is the 2026 World Cup next summer could help; He could be in a real break -up season under Frank. It corresponds to the type of profile with which his new manager was a huge success before.
