SunMED Medical is seeking a detail‑oriented, customer‑focused professional to join our team as a full‑time Remote Customer Care Specialist. This role plays a key part in supporting patients and referral partners by guiding DME orders from intake through order placement while delivering exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Enter and manage referrals and DME orders using Brightree, ensuring accuracy from intake through billing submission.
- Proactively contact providers to obtain complete clinical documentation required to meet internal, insurance, and payer guidelines.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource by educating patients and referral sources on DME products and processes.
- Review insurance benefits with patients and clearly communicate coverage details and any anticipated out‑of‑pocket costs.
- Deliver high‑quality customer service interactions with patients, providers, and business partners via phone and electronic communication.
- Collaborate effectively with therapists, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely order fulfillment.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with referral sources.
- Create and submit purchase orders to manufacturers using fax, email, and online portals.
- Maintain organized, timely, and accurate documentation in accordance with company standards.
Qualifications
- Prior customer service experience (phone and/or in‑person).
- Comfort discussing insurance benefits, coverage limitations, and financial responsibility with patients.
- Ability to perform accurately in a fast‑paced environment with strong attention to detail.
- Experience with Brightree is preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with a sense of urgency.
- Proven ability to multitask efficiently and manage shifting priorities.
- Adaptable and open to learning new systems, workflows, and technologies.
- Excellent organizational, time‑management, and follow‑through skills.
- Strong computer proficiency, including Outlook; working knowledge of Excel is required.
- Ability to quickly learn and become proficient in multiple software platforms, including Outlook, Teams, and Excel, is essential for success in this role.
