We’re looking for a Female Support Worker to join a friendly, close-knit team providing one-to-one care for a woman living with a spinal cord injury in the Southampton area.

This is a rewarding role where you’ll support her independence, assist with personal care, and help with daily living tasks empowering her to live life to the fullest in the comfort of her own home.

You’ll also be welcomed by her friendly dog and two cats, so animal lovers are especially encouraged to apply! Please note that applicants should also be comfortable around smoking.

Location: Southampton

Roles Available:

24 hours – Alternate weeks Friday & Sunday

Shift Patterns:

Waking Night Shifts: 20:00-08:00

Pay Rates:

£15.00 per hour weekday waking night rate

£16.00 per hour weekend waking night rate

Double time for Bank Holidays

£1.00 per hour less during probationary period

Role Responsibilities:

  • Providing personal care
  • Supporting with daily living tasks and household duties
  • Assisting with community outings

Ideal Candidate

Essential:

  • A positive and proactive approach
  • A full, clean driving licence and willingness to drive the clients adapted vehicle
  • Flexible and reliable
  • Comfortable around pets and smoking

Preferred:

  • Previous care experience
  • Previous experience of complex care and/or spinal cord injuries
  • Female applicants only, in line with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 & Equality Act 2010.

Job Description

Job Purpose: To support your client with their day-to-day living, promoting their independence and supporting them to live a fulfilled life ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.

Internal and Management: This role will report to the Registered Manager

Key Duties/Responsibilities of our Support Worker:

Supporting your client to safely lead a fulfilling and more independent life by:

  • Provide practical support for your client and their family, such as helping with personal care, household tasks and paperwork
  • Assist and encourage your client to engage in everyday home, social, leisure and work activities, according to the individual’s choice
  • Support and monitor your client’s healthcare needs, including administering medication and other clinical tasks
  • Help your clients to access community facilities and be included in community groups, if they so wish
  • Understand their communication needs and adapt your own communication style accordingly
  • Keep accurate, up to date records of all the care you provide
  • Work positively with other professionals, such as doctors and therapists, to ensure consistency of support
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
  • Participate in learning and development opportunities as required
