About the role

The University of Bath is seeking a Project Officer to play a key role in delivering Be Well at Bath, our whole-university approach to mental health and wellbeing.

Following the successful achievement of the University Mental Health Charter Award in 2024, we are committed to embedding wellbeing across every aspect of university life and working towards achieving Award with Merit status in our 2029 resubmission.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a strategic initiative that supports the wellbeing of our students and staff while helping to shape the future direction of mental health and wellbeing across the institution. Working closely with senior leaders, including the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience & Sport), you will coordinate projects, action plans and stakeholder engagement activities that drive meaningful and lasting change.

About the role

As Project Officer, you will act as the University’s lead coordinator for Be Well, bringing together colleagues from across the institution to ensure the successful delivery of actions, projects and commitments within the initiative. As part of the role, you will act as the University’s lead for the University Mental Health Charter programme.

You will:

• Coordinate a wide range of wellbeing-related projects and workstreams across the University.
• Support the governance and operation of the Be Well Steering Group.
• Manage project plans, action plans, risk registers and progress reporting.
• Analyse qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate impact and inform decision-making.
• Develop communications and stakeholder engagement activities under the Be Well brand.
• Lead evidence gathering and reporting for annual University Mental Health Charter submissions and the University’s 2029 resubmission.
• Build effective relationships with colleagues across academic, professional service and student communities to help deliver shared wellbeing objectives. 

About you

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive project professional who can work confidently across a complex organisation and engage a wide range of stakeholders.

You will bring:

• Experience of coordinating and delivering strategic projects within higher education or another complex organisation.
• Strong project management, planning and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and influencing abilities, with experience of producing reports, presentations and briefings.
• Experience of analysing and presenting qualitative and quantitative data.
• An understanding of the challenges and opportunities relating to mental health, wellbeing and student or staff experience.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity and build effective relationships with colleagues at all levels. 

Further information

Knowledge of the University Mental Health Charter framework and experience of wellbeing, student experience or organisational development initiatives would be advantageous.

Following our University Mental Heath Charter Award reassessment in 2029, the scope and focus of the role may evolve.

This is a full-time, permanent position, however, the Be Well at Bath project is fixed-term until 2029 and following that date the focus of the role would move to another strategic project.
