Applications are invited for a Management Accountant to join our Finance team.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Management Accountant will play an important role in providing effective budgeting, reporting and accounting support across the Glasgow School of Art. The post will support the development of annual budgets and longer-term financial forecasts, produce monthly management accounts and provide insightful financial analysis to support informed decision-making across the School.

The role will work closely with budget holders and colleagues across GSA, providing advice on financial performance, investigating variances and identifying actions to support effective financial management. The post will also contribute to the preparation of annual financial statements and external audit, fixed asset accounting, income accounting and the ongoing development and maintenance of financial systems.

We are looking for a qualified or part-qualified accountant who is making demonstrable progress towards completing their professional qualification. You will have experience of supporting institutional budgets and producing regular management accounts, including analysing variances and forecasting year-end outturns. Excellent Excel skills and experience of using enterprise finance systems and financial reporting tools are essential. Experience within the education or public sector, and knowledge of Unit4/Agresso, Excelerator and/or SQL, would be advantageous.

You will be a self-starter with the ability to manage priorities and workload effectively, work collaboratively and communicate confidently with colleagues at all levels. Importantly, you will be able to explain financial information and concepts clearly to non-financial managers and provide constructive financial advice to support decision-making.
