We’re looking for an Assistant Writer to join the team behind Dr Ben Miles, helping produce content across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram that breaks down scientific breakthroughs and deep-tech for a large, curious audience.
This role is ideal for someone early in their career with a strong foundation in science, who enjoys turning complex ideas into clear, engaging content.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting the writing team across long-form and short-form content
- Conducting research and assisting with scriptwriting
- Helping translate complex scientific concepts into clear, engaging narratives – you understand what keeps people watching
- Contributing to research to ensure content is accurate and compelling
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in science and the right mindset.
You don’t need years of experience – but you do need to be curious, proactive, and serious about improving your craft. You should enjoy both researching ideas and turning them into clear, engaging content that people actually want to watch or read.
- Degree in a scientific field (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD)
- Strong writing ability – you can make complex ideas clear, engaging, and easy to follow
- An interest in storytelling, not just explanation
- Able to simplify complex topics without losing accuracy
- Detail-oriented and comfortable working with nuance
- Proactive – you take initiative rather than waiting for direction
- Comfortable working at pace in a collaborative environment
- You’ll be expected to take ownership of your work and improve quickly through feedback.

- Fully remote, with a globally distributed team
- Occasional travel may be required for on-site collaboration or shoots
- We run a few in-person team meetups each year focused on collaboration, training, and creative development, so you should be comfortable with periodic travel and short-term relocation
