About the Role

We’re seeking a meticulous professional to create, receive, process, maintain, retrieve, and retire shipping (manifest) records for a fast‑moving government team. You’ll be the backbone of our record‑keeping workflow, ensuring every file is accurate, accessible, and properly archived.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive and distribute paper and electronic shipping records.
  • Enter, update, delete, or correct information in logs and automated tracking systems.
  • Scan documents, check files in/out, transfer, retire, and recycle records as needed.
  • Research information systems to locate files quickly.
  • Organize, label, and bar‑code record materials; create electronic file folders.
  • Retrieve files for requestors and prepare them for delivery.
  • Maintain file integrity by removing duplicates, fixing labeling errors, and redistributing files.
  • Prepare records for transfer or retirement to federal records centers, including boxing and listing.
  • Conduct regular shelf‑reading and quality‑control inventories of paper and electronic files.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • At least 6 months of on‑the‑job experience with computer terminals, scanners, and electronic document‑management tools (required).
  • Background check clearance (required).
  • Preferred: Experience as an EPA Records Clerk, but not mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of filing procedures, alphabetical/numerical sequencing, and records policy.
  • Proficient typing and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Excellent English communication skills and ability to follow procedures.
  • Calm under pressure, able to prioritize multiple tasks and crises.
  • Recognizes and prioritizes important users of the service
  • Valid driver’s license (required).
